Perkypad is a UK blog featuring articles on interior design and decorating for British homes. Articles are written for people decorating, furnishing or rearranging their current home, whether that be a rented flat or a Victorian terrace. Articles are written in plain English to answer the questions that people actually want answering as opposed to trying to sell them something.
What you will find here
Much of our writing is centred around a few key areas: choosing paints and colours, how to plan living rooms and small spaces, the various decorating jobs you can do yourself and how to make room for working from home. We also write about gardens, home maintenance and many of the money-related issues faced by homeowners. Some articles are designed to be step-by-step guides with checklists you can work through, while others delve into the history behind something that you might see every day. Knowing why something is the way it is can often make it easier to deal with. Our main site guide is a good place to start for new visitors to the site.
How our articles are researched
Our starting point for any article is the question we think a reader would ask about it. Then we check what reliable sources say before we make any claim about laws, rules, figures or safety. Where an article makes claims about these topics we provide a link to the source, usually on government and regulator websites, trade and professional bodies’ websites and published research. We do not make up quotes, statistics or personal experiences. Where we are unable to verify a claim, it does not appear.
What we are not
Perkypad offers general information, not professional advice for your particular situation. Where a job needs a qualified professional, or where the rules depend on your circumstances, we say so. You can read more about how we choose topics, check facts and correct mistakes in our editorial policy.
